GIO POMODORO – Marat,1971 – bronze 184 h x 50 x 50 cm
presented on Adnan Khashoggi’s superyacht Nabila since 1985

The sculpture ‘MARAT’ by Gio Pomodoro was presented on world’s superyacht Nabila, named after the daughter of the Saudi owner and billionaire Adnan Khashoggi. The yacht was used as mobile headquarters of the villain in the James Bond movie: Never Say Never Again (1983). The rockband Queen released the album ‘The Miracle’ in 1989. On that album there is a song called ‘Khashoggi’s Ship’, inspired by the yacht and its owner.

In 1988 the yacht was sold to the Sultan of Brunei, who in turn sold her to Donald Trump for $29 million. The yacht was renamed ‘Trump Princess’. Shortly after, in 1991, the yacht was sold by Trumps creditors to Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who renamed it again: ‘Kingdom 5KR’.

The bronze sculpture of POMODORO (1971)
has a certificate which mentions:
“Installata a bordo del motor yacht ‘Nabila’, coleccion Adnan Khashoggi.”
